I stumbled across this fundraising idea the other day and I thought I would pass it along.
It’s called the 50/50 raffle. The cost is very low and the idea is very simple. The only supplies you need are a large jar and a roll of tickets from your local party store (be sure the tickets have two identical numbered tickets in which one can be put into the jar and the other given to the participant). Next, sell each ticket for a reasonably low price ( $1-5) and put one half of the ticket in the jar and give the other half to the participant. At the end of your event, pull out a winning ticket from the jar. The winner gets half the money collected from the sale of the tickets and your organization gets to keep the other half! Try it at your next event or meeting and let me know how it works for you.
One note of caution: Some states (California in particular) consider this “gambling”.
